[when you did your best]

i finally saw the william hung clip on the net. was just curious to know what so funny and how bad the singing and dancing was, which made him the overnight talk and joke of the town.

got this from wei ting's blog..

"finally watched the first and last episode of American Idol for me
starring William Hung during the last 5 mins

i didn't enjoy the show at all
i couldn't laugh at William when he did his song and dance
i couldn't laugh at him when he said he had no professional training
i couldn't laugh when he said he already did his best
esp not when he was being interviewed before his audition
with the earnest look and toothy smile he gave

he did whatever all of us advocate
FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS
LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE MAX
yet he became the joke of the series

who are we to judge him?
we tend to step on those beneath us
and look up to those above us
yet we forget the ranking we believe it is based on our self perceived worth

if we loved to sing
would we be the pathetic pple who continue to sing even after Simon Beast insults us
who go on our knees begging for a second chance
if we loved the stage so very much
would we be the ones with the sad dance moves singing with that pretentious drawl"

so what is the definition of "your best"? to others it may not be.
viv said i did my best for the match. but so what. the truth remains:
we lost.
